The Horse People offers a co-operative education and Internship program for National Coaching candidates. Coaching Internships are available to a limited number of students each year and are suitable for those seeking a profession in the equine industry. For those wishing to attain certification, we provide a hands-on opportunity to help prepare for the coaching examination. Aspiring competitors will have the opportunity to upgrade their skills and prepare for the coming season.
The Horse People Coaching Internship Program:
- Prepares students for English Coaching Certification Exam
- Improves riding skills
- Improves teaching skills.
- Improves stable management & horse care techniques
- Teaches record keeping - i.e. first aid, lesson plans, bookkeeping
- Introduces Sport Psychology techniques for riding and teaching.
- Explains safety standards.
- Teaches backing and training of young horses.
- Improves competition skills
The Horse People Coaching Internship teaching methodologies include:
- Hands-on teaching, under supervision
- Riding school masters
- Video and reading library list
- Critique
- Class discussion
- Note handouts
- Regularly scheduled Q & A sessions with a veterinarian and blacksmith
- Lesson plans, handed in for critique
