Parents of Competitors FAQs:

How can I help? What's my job?

  1. Be positive, even if you, your child, or the horse is having a bad day. Your attitude and mental state carry a lot of weight with your child.

  2. Have lots of cold drinks with electrolytes available, as well as a nourishing light lunch. Show food is anathema to an athlete.

  3. A first aid kit in every car is a good plan.

  4. Be sure that all memberships and passports (horse) are up to date and paid for (CEF, OEF, HTC, CADORA, and if you're a resident of Quebec, add to memberships - FEQ, HTQ early in the year).

  5. Make sure all tack is in good repair at the start, middle, and end of each season. All horses should have their own longe line, lead line and halter in the team colour of green as well as a team saddle pad which has a white square with navy and green trim.

  6. All riders should have the team rugby shirt, t-shirt and team helmet cover.

  7. Ask your child what help they need at the show.

  8. Refrain from suggestions about riding.
